The Nest
0 – 2 years
A loving, caring place where your child will begin their journey into a world of learning, curiosity, creativity, exploration, independence and friendship
We offer programmes that adjust to your child’s own rhythms and our dedicated Nest teaching team encourage tamariki in fostering reciprocal relationships between other children, parents and whanau. We value your aspirations for your child and communicate closely with families to best accommodate children’s social, emotional, cultural and physical needs.
Tui Room
2 – 3½ years
A stimulating environment where children can discover and learn through play and exploration in a place they know they belong.
The Tui room provides opportunities for children to experience and enjoy an extensive range of activities and learning through play which will help to enhance their imagination and creativity enabling them to choose and enquire, then explore and discover. Children learn to develop their social and emotional competence and participation skills with experiences that foster independence and confidence. They will be supported and encouraged to try out their own ideas, pursue their questions and theories and follow their own curiosity. The Tui room provides an atmosphere of love and security where each child is respected as a valued individual and positively encouraged in all their endeavours.
Pukeko Room
3½ – 5 years
An environment where our tamariki can learn through free play, having the time, resources, and support to explore, follow their interests and to develop their working theories.
Our Pukeko team are committed to providing creative learning spaces giving children free access to resources, fostering a sense of responsibility and agency. We embrace the Christian values of Clevedon Kidz and promote aroha, kindness, empathy, honesty, and acceptance in our room.
As our children are approaching school age we have a focus on school readiness. Our transition to school programme has been developed collaboratively with our local school and has a focus on self- help and social skills.
Relationships are very important to our team, we work with our tamariki and their whanau to have conversations, share experiences, stories, and knowledge to know each other well. Our teacher:child ratios are much lower than those required by the Ministry of Education meaning that we are able to spend more time getting to know our tamariki as individuals. We also value our relationship with the community and with Papatuanuku and we love to get our tamariki involved. Our oldest children go out for Nature and Discovery walks once a week during term time and all children are involved in regular excursions out into the community.
